Description:

The Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Restoration Act of 1998 provides funding to develop and implement proposals for the restoration of fish and wildlife resources in the Great Lakes Basin and to provide assistance to States, Indian Tribes, and other interested entities to encourage cooperative conservation, restoration and management of the fish and wildlife resources and their habitat in the Great Lakes Basin. Funds may be used for approved Tribal and State sponsored projects which benefit Great Lakes fish and wildlife restoration. Projects require a 25% non-federal match. Pre-proposals are submitted to the Great Lakes Fishery Commission and reviewed. Successful project leaders are encouraged to submit full proposals, which are reviewed and ranked. Selected projects are recommended to the Director of the Fish and Wildlife Service for funding. The Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Restoration Act is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
